“Cecilia Durbin’s lighting is subtle and dynamic” – Robert Trussell, KC Studio
In this Williams classic, Brick and his broken leg refuse to attend Big Daddy’s birthday celebration, so the party comes to his room. The family wrestles with their many secrets and the damage those secrets do to individual family members and the family as a whole. The design must capture the stifling heat of a Mississippi summer, and the claustrophobia of living by ill-fitting social norms in a house where someone is always listening, in contrast the vastness of a plantation house surrounding this family’s struggle.
